About

Featuring Desk is a features-led digital news outlet published by 24World Media from Palatine, Illinois. Our promise is in our tagline — Featured stories, told in full — which means we give context, background and consequence the same attention as the headline itself. A result, a ruling or a market move is only the start of our reporting; we stay with a story long enough to explain how it was reached, who it affects and what is likely to happen next.

Featuring Desk publishes original reporting across nine sections: World, Politics, Business, Technology, Sports, Entertainment, Health, Science and Video. Each section is run by a named desk — the World & Politics Desk, the Business & Technology Desk, the Sports & Entertainment Desk and the Health & Science Desk — so that readers always know which newsroom team is responsible for a story. Desk bylines are working newsroom identities, not invented individuals, and every story is held to the same published standards for sourcing, corrections and ethics.

Our reporting method is straightforward. We start from primary material wherever it is available — official statements, filings, published research, league and agency releases — and we check each significant claim against at least two reputable sources before publication. Company-reported figures are labelled as company-reported, study findings are described as researchers report them with their limits stated, and developing stories are updated as firmer information arrives. We write in our own words, we attribute clearly, and we link readers to further reading where that helps verification.

Images matter to how a story is understood, so Featuring Desk uses only licensed material, principally from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons and public-domain terms, imported and hosted locally rather than hotlinked. Every featured image carries its licence, source file and creator in its attachment record, with descriptive alternative text for accessibility. We check every image visually before use and we do not publish indecent, suggestive or misleading pictures; where no decent licensed image exists for a story, we change the story rather than lower the standard.

Featuring Desk is part of the 24World Media network, an independent group of news outlets that share publishing standards while keeping distinct voices, slates and audiences. Network membership never means copied coverage: each outlet commissions and edits its own stories, chooses its own angles and maintains its own corrections record. Readers who follow more than one network title should therefore encounter different reporting, not the same article repeated under different mastheads.

We publish for readers who want the full picture without noise: clear ledes, short paragraphs, honest attribution and follow-ups that return to a story after the first news cycle has passed. If you spot an error, disagree with a judgment or want to suggest a subject we should examine in full, please use the Contact page. Substantive corrections are made promptly and noted on the story itself, in line with our Corrections policy and Code of Ethics.

Featuring Desk is published by 24World Media, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067. Enquiries about editorial matters, advertising and syndication can be directed through the Contact and Advertise pages. Thank you for reading — and for holding us to the standard our tagline promises.

How the desks work together

Although each desk owns its sections, Featuring Desk stories often cross desk boundaries deliberately. A space mission is science, but its budget is politics and its contractor is business; a tournament final is sport, but its broadcast deal is media business and its heat policy is health. Editors move stories to the desk best equipped to verify them and lend specialists to neighbouring desks rather than forcing every angle into a single section box. That is why readers will find a features sensibility across the site: the desk system protects expertise without fragmenting a story that naturally belongs together.

Video has its own front because moving pictures explain some subjects better than paragraphs can. Our Video section embeds official channel material in place — agency, league, institute and broadcaster originals — with full channel credit and original accompanying reporting that tells readers what to watch for and what remains unconfirmed. We never download and re-upload another channel’s work, and we never present an embed as our own production. Where an official embed is unavailable or unsuitable, the story runs as text rather than with an inferior substitute.
