Arrests 

Katherina Alves, 32, of Willow Street, was arrested at 2:47 p.m. Thursday, on charges of shoplifting by asportation, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, willful, malicious, wanton damage, possession of Class A drugs, and possession of Class B drugs. 

Russell King, 55, was arrested at 8:23 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession with intent to distribute drugs. 

John Lawrence, 44, was arrested at 8:48 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession with intent to distribute drugs and trafficking Class A drugs 35+ grams.

Reports of alarms at 5:04 a.m. Thursday on Conomo Avenue, at 5:28 a.m. on North Common Street, at 5:34 a.m. on  Conomo Avenue, at 6:50 a.m. on Ingalls Street, at 7:24 a.m. on Western Avenue, and at 8:38 a.m. on Western Avenue. 

Assault

Break & Enter/Burglary

A report of a break & entry/burglar at 3:15 p.m. Thursday on Pleasant Street. Caller reported a past break-in to the residence. Report taken. 

Disturbance

A report of a disturbance at 5:17 p.m. at Macy’s on Broadway. An employee and foster mom reported an out-of-control juvenile. Report taken. 

DPW Complaint

A report of a DPW complaint at 2:38 p.m. Thursday on Houston Avenue. Caller reported there was a large dead goose in the street. Referred to other agency.  

Hazardous Road Conditions  

A report of hazardous road conditions at 12:05 p.m. Thursday on the Salem Turnpike. Caller reported large debris in the road. It was possibly a piece of billboard, and it was blocking an entire northbound lane; a report at 6:21 p.m. at O’Reilly Auto Parts. Caller reported a shopping cart in the slow lane of the highway Referred to other agency.  

Motor Vehicles

A report of a motor vehicle accident at 7:28 Thursday at Kohl’s on Walnut Street. Caller reported a two-car accident with no injuries. One vehicle was undrivable. Vehicle towed; a report at 6:01 p.m. on Essec Street at Vine Street. Officer reported a head-on collision. Report taken. 

A report of a motor vehicle stop at 10:02 a.m. at the Town Hall Annex on Main Street. Verbal warning; a report at 5:13 p.m. on Main Street and Simmer Street. Citation warning. 

A report of a suspicious motor vehicle at 2:21 p.m. Thursday on Laurel Street at Avon Street. Caller reported an ongoing issue with a black BMW that parks in the area frequently. Caller reported that she thought they were smoking something and would like to know what they are up to. An officer reported that the individuals lived in the area and were just hanging out. Investigated, nothing found. 

Noise Complaints

A report of a noise complaint at 9:42 p.m. at Evans Park on Central Street. Caller reported noise from the Evans basketball courts. Dispersed gathering; a report at 11:43 p.m. at Evans Park on Central Street. Caller reported noise from the basketball courts again. Dispersed gathering. 

Suspicious Activity

A report of suspicious activity at 5:56 p.m. Thursday at Bank of America on Broadway. Caller reported an individual pointed a gun at him. Report taken. 

Suspicious Person

A report of a suspicious person at 2:55 a.m. Thursday on Lincoln Avenue. Caller reported a suspicious male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants lurking around her home. Area search negative.
