Moulton to join Frederick Douglass reading

LYNN – U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton will join the annual reading of Fredrick Douglass’ speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” on Friday to celebrate Independence Day.

The North Shore Juneteenth Association runs the event, and it will take place at the Frederick Douglass Memorial Park on Exchange Street in Lynn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to honor Douglass’ life story and efforts toward the abolitionist movement.

The speech read by Douglass on July 5, 1852, is a critique of American hypocrisy that remains significant through current national challenges.
