Fun Run unites 450 students, raises $31,500 in Marblehead

MARBLEHEAD — An approximate 450 Brown School students, from pre-K to third grade in Marblehead, dressed in a rainbow of colors and raised more than $31,500 during the school community’s 10th Annual Fun Run.

Touting team colors and sporting tie-dye shirts, students celebrated fitness and school spirit. Principal Mary Maxfield, accompanied by school mascot Hoppy the Frog, warmed up students.

“We are amazed by the incredible support that you and your families have given to the Fun Run and our school community. Together, our school community has raised more than $31,500,” Maxfield said. “You collected donations from 22 different states and countries across the world, including from our Canadian neighbors and countries as far as Uruguay. The love for our school community is worldwide.”

Donations will be used to fund the Brown School PTO. Funds raised enrich the student experience by supporting the outdoor garden teaching programs, children’s book author visits, as well as events like S.T.E.A.M. Fair, Book Fair, Monster Mash, and Holiday Shop. The PTO also funds and organizes teacher appreciation efforts.

The Fun Run has raised more than $250,000 for the Brown School community and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The event was supported by local sponsors: JCC of the North Shore, Mud Puddle Toys, Pint Size and Up, YMCA of the North Shore, and Yoga Loft.
