LYNNFIELD — Since the start of the District 16 tournament, the Lynnfield 12-year-old All-Stars have been on a tear. Through four games, Lynnfield has yet to allow a run and outscored opponents, 40-0.

Not bad . . .

That high-powered offense has propelled the team to a 4-0 record and a spot in the championship game against Peabody West. Thursday’s first pitch is slated for 5:45 p.m. with an if-necessary game on Friday.

Lynnfield opened with a 9-0 victory against defending champion Peabody. Pitching was the difference as Nico (14 K) and Luca Mandell combined for a brotherly no-hitter.

The dominance continued with a 10-0 win over Salem. The Mandells led the way offensively, as Luca hit an RBI double in the third inning before Nico followed with a two-run homer.

Lynnfield collected 10 hits in that one.

From there, in a matchup of unbeaten teams, Lynnfield showed it was on another level with an 11-0 victory against Swampscott.

Matt Cavallo led the offense, batting 3-for-3 with four runs scored, three RBI, and a solo blast in the fifth inning.

Fast starts have been a point of emphasis for Lynnfield, and it wasted no time against Swampscott, building a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Manager Chris Cavallo spoke about the importance of getting in front early.

“Getting ahead early, right away with three runs in the first inning, and then having Nico settle in was key,” Chris Cavallo said. “He may not have been as sharp as his last game, but once again, they weren’t touching him. There were very, very few batted balls again today.”

Next in the way was Winthrop, which fell 10-0 for Lynnfield’s third consecutive double-digit victory.

Lynnfield — again, as advertised — scored six runs across the first three innings to put immediate pressure on Winthrop.
