PEABODY — If you’re grabbing ice cream at Treadwell’s, walk across the street for some high-level athletic talent at Bishop Fenwick.

After the girls basketball team brought home the Div. 3 state championship in March, it’s been a busy spring for the Crusaders. A dozen student-athletes from the Class of 2026 — from eight towns and cities — have committed to the college of their choice, while the school also announced its Student-Athletes of the Month for April.

Gloucester’s Tye Piraino (Curry College), Salem’s Tyler Connolly (Ithaca College), and Peabody’s Dylan Patturelli (Springfield College) will continue their football careers at the next level.

On the soccer field, Lynn’s Jackson Armata is headed to Dean College and Julia Jin to Penn State Altoona.

After playing a pivotal role for the girls basketball team, Beverly’s Caitlin Boyle is Stonehill College-bound. More Beverly natives, swimmer Caroline Blatchford (Ithaca College) and wrestler Efstratios Berry (Plymouth State University), are also taking it up a notch.

Lacrosse standout Breanna Genzale, of Danvers, is off to Framingham State University, while Saugus’ Shea Mason will play field hockey at Wheaton College. Melrose’s Marianna Kay heads to Merrimack College to compete in track and field, while Suffolk University’s baseball team welcomes Gloucester’s Odin Garron.

As for April’s Student-Athletes of the Month, Newbury’s Maggie Wichroski (tennis) and Melrose’s Sophie Koles (lacrosse) took home the honors.

Wichroski, as of May 14, has remained undefeated in singles and doubles play. On top of her consistency and intensity, she has earned either President’s or Principal’s List honors every marking period since ninth grade, all while balancing a challenging AP and honors course load.

Koles, an effective midfielder, has set the tone on and off the turf. She, too, has earned either President’s or Principal’s List honors every marking period since ninth grade, while taking AP and honors courses. Koles continues her academic journey at Tulane University this fall.

Awards are presented to students who are committed, hard-working, inspiring, and an example for their peers both academically and athletically, according to the school.
