Privacy Policy

Featuring Desk is published by 24World Media. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit featuringdesk.com, how it is used, with whom it may be shared, how long it is kept and what choices you have. It applies to the website and to messages sent through our contact facilities. It does not apply to other 24World Media outlets, which maintain their own policies, or to third-party sites linked from our stories. The effective date of this policy is 10 October 2026. By using the site you acknowledge the practices described here; if you do not agree, please do not use the site or submit information through it.

Information you provide directly

When you use the contact form or write to [email protected], you provide your name, email address, subject and message content, together with any links or details you choose to include. Please do not send highly sensitive personal information through the form unless it is essential to your enquiry and you have considered the risk; confidential source material should be flagged as confidential in the first message so that handling can be agreed. Information you provide is used to answer your enquiry, investigate corrections, manage advertising and syndication discussions and maintain a record of the correspondence.

If you subscribe to any newsletter facility offered on the site, you provide your email address and subscription preferences. Subscription information is used only to send the requested editions and related service messages, and every edition provides an unsubscribe route. We do not sell subscriber addresses.

Information collected automatically

When you visit featuringdesk.com, our servers and security systems automatically record technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This may include your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, pages viewed, dates and times of requests and error or security events. Our hosting, caching and security providers — including LiteSpeed caching and Wordfence security tooling — process this information to serve pages, prevent abuse, detect attacks and diagnose faults. Caching may store copies of public pages to improve speed; it does not give other visitors access to information you submitted privately.

The site uses cookies and similar storage only as needed for operation, security, preferences and, where analytics are enabled, aggregate measurement. Essential cookies support login sessions for authorised staff, security checks and remembering display preferences. Analytics, where used, are configured to report aggregate patterns such as popular sections and approximate geography rather than to identify individual readers for advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may prevent staff login or form functions from working, though public reading generally remains available.

How information is used

We use the information described above to operate, secure and improve Featuring Desk; to respond to tips, corrections, advertising and rights enquiries; to prevent spam, fraud and attacks; to understand which sections and formats serve readers best; and to meet legal obligations. Editorial tips are assessed by the responsible desk and may lead to follow-up contact. We do not use contact-form messages to build marketing profiles, and we do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about individual readers.

Featured images and other media hosted on the site are public editorial material, not reader data. Their licence records may name the image creator, which is a matter of copyright attribution and is published intentionally.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed with service providers who host, secure, cache, back up (including UpdraftPlus backups) and deliver the site, and only under instructions to use it for those purposes. Providers may be located outside your country, in which case information is protected by the provider’s contractual and technical safeguards. We may disclose information if required by law, court order or regulator, to protect the safety of any person, to investigate suspected wrongdoing affecting the site, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. If Featuring Desk or the relevant part of 24World Media were transferred, reader information held for the site would be handled in accordance with this policy and applicable law, with notice given where required.

Stories may link to external sites, embeds and social platforms. Those services have their own privacy practices. In particular, embedded videos are served by YouTube; interacting with an embed is governed by Google’s terms and privacy policy as well as ours. We encourage you to review the policies of any third party you engage with through our pages.

Retention and security

Contact correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle the enquiry, maintain the corrections record and meet legal or accounting requirements, after which it is deleted or archived with restricted access. Server and security logs are retained for a limited period proportionate to security and diagnostic needs. Backups are rotated and access-controlled. We apply reasonable administrative and technical safeguards — updates, access limits, security monitoring and encrypted connections where available — but no internet system can be guaranteed completely secure, and you should not send information whose disclosure would cause you serious harm without first agreeing secure handling with an editor.

Authorised staff access reader correspondence only as needed for their role. Desk bylines are newsroom identities; personal contact details of individual reporters are not published and should not be sought through this site.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal information, to receive a copy in portable form and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. To exercise a right, contact us through the Contact page or at [email protected], identifying the information concerned. We will verify your request proportionately and respond within the time required by applicable law. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Children should not submit personal information through the contact form without a parent or guardian’s involvement. Featuring Desk is a general news site and is not directed at collecting children’s data. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the site, providers or law. Material changes will be shown on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the site after an update takes effect will be treated as acknowledgement of the revised policy where permitted by law. This policy was last effective on 10 October 2026.

Questions about this policy should be sent through the Contact page or to [email protected]. Featuring Desk is published by 24World Media, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067.

Cookies, embeds and measurement in detail

It helps to be concrete about the small files and third parties a modern news page involves. When a page loads, the theme may set preferences for display, the security system may set a cookie to distinguish human readers from automated attack traffic, and the cache may serve a stored copy of a public page to the next visitor for speed. None of those functions requires us to know who you are. Where embedded YouTube videos appear, YouTube may set its own cookies once you interact with the player; before interaction, the embed still contacts Google’s servers to show the thumbnail and player, as with any embedded video on the web. If you prefer to avoid that contact, do not press play and instead follow the channel credit link in the story text in a fresh browser session governed by your own settings.

Do-not-track signals and browser privacy controls are respected as far as our systems support them, but their handling varies between browsers and providers and cannot be promised as a complete opt-out from essential security logging. Server logs that record IP addresses for attack prevention are a security necessity; they are access-restricted, retained briefly and never used to profile readers for advertising. If aggregate analytics are enabled for a period to answer a specific editorial question — for example which explainers readers finish — the question, period and aggregate result are what the newsroom retains, not a permanent per-reader history.

International readers and changes in providers

Featuring Desk is published from the United States and read internationally. Service providers for hosting, security, caching and backup may process information in the United States and in other countries where they operate facilities. By using the site you understand that information will be processed in those places under the safeguards described here. If we change a material provider in a way that changes how personal information is handled — for example introducing a new analytics or subscription processor — this policy will be updated before or at the time the change takes effect, with the new processor’s role described in ordinary language.

If any part of this policy is found unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply. Earlier versions are superseded by the version published here with its effective date. For the avoidance of doubt, this policy covers reader information only; information about organisations supplied for advertising, syndication and press purposes is handled under the relevant correspondence and contract, with the same principles of minimisation, purpose limitation and restricted access applied in practice.
