Three All-Star Navigators will shine bright

LYNN — The North Shore Navigators will send three players to Sanford, Maine for the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star Game next Sunday.

Shortstop Hudson Ellis (Oral Roberts) and left-handed pitcher Gian Gamelli (Notre Dame) were selected to start for the North Division squad, while Hunter Kingsbury (Bryant) earned the nod as a reserve outfielder and will also represent the Navigators at Goodall Park.

After earning All-Summit League honors during his redshirt freshman season at Oral Roberts, Ellis has settled into the leadoff spot and shortstop position in North Shore’s lineup this summer. He owns a team-best .316 average with six doubles, one triple, 14 RBI, 26 runs scored and 27 stolen bases in 27 games. The native of Round Rock, Texas, broke an eight-year-old single-season franchise record for stolen bases on July 14 and ranks second in the NECBL in that category. He has logged seven multi-hit games and swiped multiple bags on eight occasions.

Gamelli entered his scheduled Sunday start against the Sanford Mainers with a 2-1 record and 1.61 ERA while ranking second in the NECBL with 36 strikeouts through 22.1 innings. The Wenham native allowed just 13 hits and four earned runs over that span, punching out at least five batters in all five of his appearances. Gamelli dealt a gem on July 10 against the Keene SwampBats, pitching five innings of shutout, one-hit ball.

North Shore has now produced the North Division’s All-Star starting pitcher for the second time in the past three seasons. Incredibly, the other is another southpaw out of Hamilton-Wenham in Will Jones (Northeastern), who was victorious in the 2024 game at Muzzy Field in Bristol, Conn.

A mainstay in center field, Kingsbury is North Shore’s leading run producer with 18 RBI on nine extra-base hits (six doubles, one triple and two homers) across his team-high 30 games this season. The Governor’s Academy grad from Byfield owns a .252 average and has swiped 22 bases in 24 attempts, which are tied for the third-most in the NECBL. Kingsbury is no stranger to summer success, having been named a Futures League All-Star for the Vermont Lake Monsters in 2025.

Navs fans will also have the opportunity to send one more representative to Sanford, as Revere native and St. Mary’s High School graduate Jack Zimmerman (Dayton) has been chosen as the team’s Fan Vote nominee. The contest is running from Monday through Thursday at 11:59 p.m., with votes being cast exclusively on the @TheNECBL Instagram page.

Zimmerman has put together an outstanding freshman summer, posting one win, one save, a 2.14 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 25.1 innings. The lefty just struck out a season-high six in his Friday start against the Vermont Mountaineers in Montpelier.
