Roundup: Marblehead serves up a sweep

Tuesday’s meeting between traditional archrivals saw Marblehead’s boys tennis team sweep Swampscott 5-0. The Magicians, ranked fourth in the latest Div. 2 power rankings, improved to 16-2.

Ty Cooper, TJ Kelly, and Caleb Sidman rattled off singles wins for the Red and Black, followed by doubles wins from Adam Loughlin/Alex Boehning and Cordt Menzler/Filip Wabno.

The Big Blue dipped to 5-10 and ranked No. 41 in Tuesday’s Div. 3 power rankings.

VOLLEYBALL

Medford 3
Lynn Classical 0

Despite the sweep, Classical was right in it through set scores of 23-25, 21-25, and 24-26. Riches Tep (13 kills, ace, dig) and Kenzel Lantano (12 assists, 4 digs) paced the Rams (13-6).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Masconomet 12
Swampscott 7

Bridget Maloney ripped a hat trick and Bridget Urbano (goal) dished out three assists, but Swampscott (13-4) met its match against Masconomet.

BASEBALL

Saugus 3
Peabody 1

Call it a stellar Senior Night for Saugus, which saw pitcher Brayden Crawford (6 H, R, 13 K) record a complete-game win. He helped his own cause by scoring in the sixth inning on a passed ball.

Eli Fialho delivered a game-winning, two-run single that scored Nathan Soroko and Jordan Rodriguez. Donny Santostefan and Garret Peavey chipped in hits for the Sachems.

Andover 5
St. Mary’s 1

Despite a pair of hits from Micah Hashikawa, St. Mary’s (14-3) fell for just the third time. The Spartans look to bounce back against Lynn English Friday (7 p.m.).
