LYNN — Superintendent Dr. Molly Cohen presented two appointments to Lynn Public School administrative positions to the School Committee during Thursday night’s meeting.
The two appointments — Julie Louf as the interim elementary deputy superintendent and Jason McCuish as principal of Lynn Vocational Technical Institute — are the first of Cohen’s tenure as superintendent, having been officially appointed herself on June 11, after serving eight months as interim.
Louf’s appointment was announced on June 18, after a unanimous recommendation by a committee that had previously interviewed three candidates.
Louf has been serving as interim deputy superintendent since September 2025. She is a 25-year Lynn Public Schools employee serving as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal.
“I am honored and grateful for this opportunity to continue to serve as deputy superintendent,” Louf said. “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me and believed in me. I’m thrilled to continue with this team in service to our staff, families, community to advance outcomes for students. Thank you so much.”
McCuish was named principal of LVTI on June 16, replacing Principal Fred Gallo, who has retired.
Previously, McCuish served as LVTI’s vice principal. He is also a lifelong Lynn resident and graduate of Lynn Public Schools. He has served 23 years in the district in various roles.
McCuish said the appointment is “an honor that I accept with tremendous humility, gratitude, and excitement. It’s also important that I thank Principal Gallo for his leadership at Lynn Tech and commitment to LVTI for 37 years. He’s an incredible person, and I’ve been fortunate to work alongside him for so many years.”
During his interview for the position, McCuish said he “mentioned that this appointment is incredibly meaningful to me because Lynn Tech has been more than just a workplace; it’s just become another home.”
“More than 20 years ago. I walked through the doors of LVTI as a teacher, right next to Dr. Cohen, as well, and I’ve had the honor to serve our school in many roles, and each has strengthened my love of LVTI and reinforced my understanding of the value of vocational education and the opportunities it provides for young people and their futures,” he said
He said as principal, his commitment is to “build upon the strong foundation that already exists. There are so many tremendous people and students at Lynn Tech, and families as well. My goal is to provide stability and collaborative leadership that allows our school to continue growing while honoring the values that have made it such a special place.”
McCuish added that he also commits to making decisions that are best for students, families, and the community, along with the values of integrity, transparency, empathy, and compassion.
The committee met in executive session to negotiate contracts with non-union personnel, including deputy superintendents, principals, and the executive director of human resources.
