To the editor:
As Town Meeting members representing Precinct 10, we wish to formally state our opposition to Article 34. This article proposes endorsing a host community agreement with WIN Waste, which would support their intention to increase the height of the unlined ash landfill from 50 feet to 100 feet for an additional 20 years.
Although our arguments will be presented in detail during the Town Meeting, we want to remind our colleagues from the other nine precincts of a long-standing Saugus Town Meeting principle: “I would never support something you do not want in your precinct that I would not want in mine.” We ask that this norm guide their decisions regarding Article 34.
Respectfully,
Martin Costello, Peter Delios, Peter Manoogian, and Carla Scuzzarella
