LYNN — Five local baseball players are suiting up for the North Shore Navigators and making an impact. The Navigators are currently 10-11 and riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping the North Adams SteepleCats. 

The team sits in eighth place — six games behind league leader Martha’s Vineyard (15-4) — in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). 

A pair of former St. Mary’s pitchers — Jack Zimmerman and Josh Doney — are back at Fraser Field and teammates once again.

Doney, a key reliever, has appeared in six games and racked up three wins (team leader) with one loss. He boasts a 0.87 ERA across 10 1/3 innings and has allowed just six hits, one run, and one earned run to go with 10 strikeouts. In his last game, against the SteepleCats, Doney pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief to secure a win.

Zimmerman, 1-1, has appeared in five games and registered one save across 10 2/3 innings of work. He has struck out nine batters with a 1.13 ERA. Zimmerman’s win came against the Danbury Westerners after he went 3 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and one earned run. 

Peabody’s Danati Fronduto and Michael Geissler have been helping the cause, too.

Fronduto hit the team’s first home-field homer of the season against the Westerners in an 8-3 win. Fronduto is batting .273 (second on team) across 14 games. He has racked up seven RBI (third on team) and crossed home plate six times. There have been four games this season in which Fronduto has registered at least two hits. 

Geissler has pitched three innings, recorded two strikeouts, and allowed just three hits. His previous game came against the Upper Valley Nighthawks, as he struck out one batter across one inning.

Danvers’ Danny Flynn is batting .235 with an RBI, three runs scored, and six stolen bases across 10 games.

The Navigators’ defense has been a strength. Eight times this summer, North Shore has allowed two or less runs. The Navs are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Alumni Field and take on Keene at 6:35 p.m.
