MARBLEHEAD — Baseball standout Greyson Leventhal, an incoming senior at Marblehead High, has found his next home in Saint Anselm College, where he will study and play Div. 2 baseball.

Leventhal chose the Manchester, New Hampshire campus because of the feeling he got during his visit, as well as the team’s coaches.

“I really like the culture of the school and it being a smaller school. It fits with me, academically, very well,” said Leventhal, a Northeastern Conference and Daily Item All-Star last season. “I really liked coach (Harry) Oringer and coach (Garrett) Callaghan when I went up for my visit.

“The recruiting process wasn’t too bad — it was stressful at times, though,” Leventhal said. “I was talking with a couple of schools. I visited Trinity College, but when I went to Saint A’s, I just fell in love with the place and knew it was the right place.”

Saint Anselm, earlier this year, announced it will move from Div. 2 competition (Northeast Ten Conference) to Div. 3 (New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference) in 2027-28. Leventhal believes the move will create more opportunities for him to compete right away.

Leventhal said he can’t wait to take the diamond in red and black next spring — one final time.

“In baseball, we’ve had some great games over the years, especially beating Swampscott both times my freshman and sophomore years,” he said. “We’ve had winning records in all sports and it’s just a lot of fun playing for Marblehead. In school, there are so many activities to be involved in and just hanging out with my friends that I’ve made over the years has all been great.” 

He’s also a member of the golf team.

“I’ve been playing competitive golf in high school since my sophomore year, but I’ve been playing pretty much my whole life,” he said. “It has helped my mental game. Golf is very grueling on the mental side, which helps me in baseball.”

To help his college transition, Leventhal is focused on gaining weight and getting stronger.

“In addition, I’ve been doing a lot of fielding and hitting work to continue to improve as a player,” he said. “My main focus, though, is to continue to go to the gym to put on more muscle and weight.”

Leventhal led the Northeastern Conference with 33 hits last season. He batted .429 with 20 RBI, 26 runs, and 10 stolen bases.
