MARBLEHEAD – To the members of our community: With the advent of warm weather, more and more of you will be getting out on the town’s wonderful open spaces including Crowninshield and Gerry Islands, owned and managed by The Trustees of Reservations. In partnership with The Trustees, we’d like to remind community members visiting the islands to be mindful of their impact on both the islands and the tightly knit neighborhood that overlooks them.
There is limited public parking, so please be aware of parking restrictions to ensure that neighborhood residents and emergency responders have easy access. Whether accessing the island by boat or on foot, please be aware that the islands are open to the public from sunrise to sunset daily. Visitors are reminded that alcohol is not permitted. Please carry off trash and be aware that restrooms are not available for either island.
The Marblehead Police Department and Harbormaster’s Office work together to ensure the safety of those on the waterways and using our open space resources. We encourage neighborhood residents and visitors to contact the Marblehead Police Department if activity is observed that runs contrary to those protections. With your help we can ensure that these unique and fragile coastal resources continue to thrive. We look forward to another great season of outdoor activities in Marblehead.
