WINTHROP — One did it with stellar pitching; the other sprinkled in some late-game heroics. Whichever you prefer, they’re both champions.
The Lynnfield 11-year-old All-Star team and Peabody West 10-year-old All-Stars won their respective District 16 tournaments on Saturday. Both games were played in Winthrop.
Lynnfield — which heated up late with two of its three hits in the final inning — came from behind to escape Peabody, 3-2. The team advanced to the Section 4 tournament (TBD).
Korbin O’Blenes (1-for-2, R, RBI) launched a deep triple to center field, followed by Bruno Palumbo’s (1-for-3, R, RBI) walk-off single. Bryce Paton (1-for-1) and Maverick Ward (R) were also key offensively.
O’Blenes (5 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 7 K, 2 BB) and Max Polansky (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K) shared pitching duties.

In 10-year-old action, Peabody West cruised by Swampscott, 7-0. The team advanced to the Section 4 tournament on July 17.
The dynamic duo of Aidan Sencabaugh (3 2/3 IP, 1 H, 7 K) and Anthony Zannella ( 2 1/3 IP, 3 H, 4 K) combined for the shutout.
Keegan Bettencourt (RBI), George Bourgeois (R), Zannella (2B, R), Jake Gallagher (1B, RBI), Sencabaugh (RBI), Dalvin Turner (R), and Colton Segee, who stole home, all delivered on the big stage.

Also on Saturday, West Lynn’s 12-year-old All-Stars smashed Salem, 12-2. Esfrailan Nivar collected a two-run homer.
The team takes on Peabody West on Monday with first pitch slated for 5:45 p.m. at Wyoma.
