Cyclist killed in Broad Street crash in Lynn

LYNN — A 30-year-old bicyclist died after colliding with a pickup truck on Broad Street Monday night, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Broad and Silsbee streets and involved a 2025 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck and a bicycle, the DA’s office said.

The cyclist was transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was being withheld on Tuesday pending notification of his family.

Lynn police, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene Monday night.

A damaged bicycle could be seen in the roadway behind the pickup truck, which had come to a stop near the crosswalk in front of George’s Roast Beef. The bicycle’s frame appeared to have sustained significant damage in the collision.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken from the scene by Lynn police. Authorities did not immediately provide additional information about the driver or say whether any charges had been filed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lynn Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

No additional information about the circumstances leading up to the collision was immediately available.
