Classes are back in session at Mattituck-Cutchogue district schools

Backpacks were packed, classrooms were ready and students hauled their supplies through the doors as the new school year got underway Wednesday. The first day of school brought a familiar mix of first-day jitters and excitement, as Mattituck-Cutchogue district children reunited with friends and teachers prepared to settle into the routines of a new academic year.

Cutchogue East Elementary School welcomed a new kindergarten class and returning first- through sixth-graders with music blasting in celebration as the students were dropped off and bussed in.

Across the district another year of learning, activities and school traditions has begun.
