Saugus native seeks help after devastating crash

SAUGUS — Former Saugus resident Nick Paradis is seeking help after his girlfriend, Kiana Costa, and their roommate were seriously injured in a car crash on their way to the Electric Forest Music Festival on June 23.

Paradis grew up in Saugus and moved to Florida in July 2025 to live with Costa.

The accident, which occurred on the couple’s second anniversary, left Costa with a broken leg, broken hip, and partially broken back, among other things that doctors are still evaluating.

The vehicle the two were in was completely totaled. To get the pair out of the vehicle, the doors had to be removed.

Paradis met the two at Sol Fest in Ponce De Leon, Florida, and found that both women were “two of the most generous people I’ve ever met,” and that they have both “given themselves fully to the communities they have been a part of.”

After they met, Paradis learned that Costa lived in Rhode Island while he was still in Saugus, and that she had become “the most important thing” in his life.

Paradis set up the GoFundMe because Costa does not have health insurance, leaving her to pay an immense amount of medical bills, including multiple surgeries, physical therapy, and other unforeseen expenses.

He noted that Costa would spend days making trinkets to give away at music festivals and concerts, spreading joy and kindness and bringing a positive message wherever she went.

“In the coming days, I am hoping to help her work through getting back on her feet and regaining mobility. She still hasn’t been able to stand up out of bed yet due to the amount of pain it causes, but we’re working with physical therapy daily to regain as much motion as possible,” Paradis said.

Paradis hopes to raise support for Costa during her recovery. The GoFundMe, which is looking to raise $14,000, is currently at $6,308, or 46% of its goal.

Those wishing to donate can find the GoFundMe under the title “Support Kiana After the Accident.”
