LYNNFIELD– A large home at 3 Melody Ln. in Lynnfield was heavily damaged Thursday during a fast-moving three-alarm fire that drew firefighters from multiple communities.

Fire crews from Lynnfield were joined by departments from Lynn, Peabody, Reading, Saugus, and Wakefield, as crews worked to contain the blaze.

The fire was ultimately held at three alarms, according to information gathered at the scene.

Firefighters were seen operating ladder trucks in front of the large residence, particularly above the main entrance, while additional crews assembled on the left side of the home near the garage entrance. At one point, all units appeared to have been called out of the structure as operations shifted outside.

Lynnfield Fire Chief Davis was on scene coordinating operations but was unavailable for comment while crews remained actively engaged.

One firefighter, believed to be from the Wakefield Fire Department, may have suffered a minor eye injury during the response. No other injuries were immediately confirmed.

Witnesses at the scene also reported that dogs were safely rescued from the property and walked out through the backyard area during the incident.

The fire response also prompted an emergency advisory from the Lynnfield Center Water District warning residents about possible low water pressure and discoloration due to heavy firefighting water usage.

The advisory stated that residents in the Essex Street corridor from Midland Street to the Peabody line, along with the Grant neighborhood, Jordan, Currie, Evans, Essex Village, and surrounding streets, could experience discolored water and fluctuating pressure.

Officials advised residents to run cold water — preferably from an outside spigot — until clear, and to avoid using hot water, dishwashers, or washing machines while discoloration persists.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
