Team of the Week - St. John’s Prep soccer

[ad_1]

You know what I’ve been thinking? With some programs, you just know they’re going to make some noise when it matters most.

The Division 1 boys soccer tournament might as well be a game of rock-paper-scissors. No matter how crafty you think you are, you just never know.

I always pick paper by the way. Every time. Maybe my opponents catch on, but oh well.

Back to the unpredictable bracket.

No. 2 Lowell (18-0) had yet to taste defeat until the tournament, while No. 31 Newton North looks like it’s on a destiny run after advancing to the Final 4.

But sometimes, it’s a strength to not look ahead, and just take things one game at a time. That’s exactly what St. John’s Prep did this week.

The Eagles already eliminated Acton-Boxborough and Framingham. They added Concord-Carlisle to their list of victims on Wednesday.

Despite a 1-0 hole at Glatz Field, The Prep climbed out of it. James Minor buried a penalty kick to equalize, while Ryan King placed one inside the far post for the game-winning goal.

Ballgame.

Coach David Crowell and company will take on Catholic Conference foe Saint John’s Shrewsbury, ranked eighth, in the semifinals. That one is scheduled for Tuesday at Woburn High with first touch at 5 p.m.

Eagles, keep flying.
