SWAMPSCOTT — The Anchor Food Pantry is going all out this year to ensure community members celebrate Thanksgiving with warm meals on their dinner tables.

Partnering with the town, the organization will be accepting donations for food pantries and shelters to accommodate those in need during the holiday, which can be left at a designated drop-off area at the Town Hall Donation Station.

This season, the pantry is asking for a variety of foods and canned goods. Community members are encouraged to donate soups, vegetables, and chicken (they will accept either canned or regular).

Aside from requesting that community members donate food for people in need, the pantry is also asking for donations of hygiene products for men, women and children. Items such as deodorant, toothpaste and shampoo are greatly appreciated as contributions.

According to a newsletter, there is also a special need for goods such as pasta, cereal and oatmeal. In addition to donating food or hygiene products, community members are welcome to make financial contributions or volunteer their time during the holiday season.

The financial donations fall on a system of multiple levels, where people can send $50 for produce, $75 for an assortment of side dishes or a sole donation of $150, which would cover “the whole feast,” according to the newsletter.

This will be the pantry’s fifth annual Thanksgiving event, the newsletter states.

Anchor Food Pantry, located at 86 Burrill Street, is open Mondays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. According to their latest newsletter, the pantry also offers a Senior delivery service. For deliveries, call 781-479-3080.
