Saugus restaurant offers final take-out service

SAUGUS — Albert Lau has officially closed his Dragon Island restaurant. However, it stayed open an extra day to cook the rest of its stock and send it to the Police and Fire Departments.

Lau and the rest of the kitchen were hard at work, making multiple platters for both stations to enjoy. Rice, spare ribs, and crab Rangoon were just some of the items packed into boxes and serving trays for delivery across the street.

Lau, Yan Liu, and Jean Poole delivered the food to the stations and thanked the officers and firefighters for their service to the town.

“After 40 years here, we want to thank them for what they do for the community,” Lau said.

According to Lau, both departments have done a lot for Saugus, and he wanted to show them that they are appreciated.

With the restaurant closed and the search for a new building continuing, Lau will finally take time off to visit China.

“I’m looking forward to chapter two…Now I’m going to China. I’ve never been there in my lifetime,” he said.

Lau is very grateful for his time in Saugus and hopes to get a fresh start soon.
