SAUGUS — The Saugus Public Library will be hosting a talk on coyotes on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.

As coyote sightings are oft-talked about on social media, and have been the topic of discussion throughout the North Shore area, Problem Animal Control agent and Swampscott’s Animal Control Officer Dan Proulx will be discussing their behavior and habitat.

The talk, which is sponsored by Saugus Animal Control, is titled “Coexistence with Coyotes.”

Topics will range from what to do if a pet is interacting with a coyote, to who to contact should you encounter a sick or injured coyote.

“The overall goal of the program is to promote safe community coexistence with local coyote populations as well as identifying the benefits of having coyotes in the community,” a release from the Saugus Public Library stated.

The release stated Proulx has “extensive” experience with respect to animal control and rehabilitation of wildlife, and said “most issues with coyotes can be resolved easily and humanely.”
