SAUGUS — The Cultural Council unanimously approved the budget for its table at Founders Day and outlined its plans for the event at its meeting Monday.
The Founders Day celebration will be held on Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the area of Town Hall on Central Street. The budget laid out items for the council’s table and included two activities for attendees to take part in.
The council decided that a button-maker, alongside coloring accoutrement such as crayons and markers, would be a good addition, allowing attendees to make their own buttons to take home with them.
Additionally, the council will have a world map on an easel alongside push pins, allowing attendees to show where they or their families are from. Co-Chair Tori Darnell expects that it will be a popular activity.
“We can get like 1,000 (push) pins, just in case of, there’s lots of people that come by that want to put a pin somewhere, or want to use more than one pin to show where their entire family is from,” Darnell said. “It’d be nice to be able to represent all of that.”
Darnell said that she hopes the council will be able to bring the world-map activity to its cultural-celebration event, which is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 23.
