Saugus addresses its to-do list

[ad_1]

SAUGUS — In a video posted to the town’s Vimeo page, Town Manager Scott Crabtree announced that the town has undertaken several ongoing projects this summer.

“We’ve done improvements around town buildings,” Crabtree said

Crabtree said that handicap ramps around town, which he said were in “much need of repair,” have been improved.

Additionally, the stairs at Town Hall have been realigned, and there has been an upgrade to the cement stairs located at the back of the Public Safety Building.

The brick memorial at the Veterans War Monument on the corner of Central and Winter streets has been improved as well, with the bricks being repointed.

Crabtree said that the town has secured $3.2 million in funds this fiscal year from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, which will be utilized for road work.

“We have a major road-paving project that’s ongoing,” Crabtree said.

He said that receiving such a large amount of funding from the department is extraordinary.

“Normally, we do $700,000 or $800,000,” he said.

Crabtree said that town officials are very excited about the future of Saugus.

“We continue to try and identify the needs and wants of the community… We’re really trying to improve the quality of life here,” Crabtree said. “We want people to live here, want to raise their kids here, and want to stay here.”
