ROUNDUP: St. Mary’s football explodes for 36 points

When a team scores 30 points at halftime their offense is playing well, and when their defense allows just six points, you’re bound for a big game. St. Mary’s (6-0) defeated Archbishop Williams 36-6 on the road to remain undefeated.

Rowan Merryman, Demetri Koutsouakis, Sam Phelps, and Tyler Guy all found the endzone in the opening 30 minutes.

Quarterback, Yaniel Belliard, had two first-half touchdown passes in the win.

In the second half, Merryman found the endzone for his second score of the game and put the game to bed.

Revere went on to score three straight, including a pick-six to end the half with a 24-8 lead.

The Rams didn’t give up as they scored on its opening possession of the second half with a 14-yard Hoeun scramble and score to make it 24-14.

VOLLEYBALL

Lynn Tech 3

Lia Morales (6 aces, 5 digs, and 3 kills) and Katie Tartarini (6 kills, 3 digs, and 2 aces) did a bit of everything to help propel the Tigers to the win.

“Unbelievable team win and the best we have played all season,” Lynn Tech coach Kaitlyn Wechsler said. “Peaking at the right time.”

Bishop Fenwick 3

Swampscott 0

Despite getting swept, the Big Blue battled the Crusaders hard on the road. After Swampscott dropped the first set 13-25, it regrouped and battled narrowly losing the second (23-25) and third set (24-26).

Lynn Classical 0

The Rams drop to 14-3 after losing to a tough Burlington team 14-25, 25-27, 11-25.

Leading the way for the Rams was Mia Pento who finished with 14 digs. Amanda Huges (7 kills, 10 digs) and Brooke Braswell (3 kills, 2 blocks, 2 digs, 1 assist) played well.

“We began the match a little timid and allowed Burlington to dictate tempo in the first set. We couldn’t run our offense and the result was a poor showing. The second set started much better. We built a 20-13 lead on the back of 7 kills from Amanda Hughes. Burlington called a timeout and for basically the remainder of the match we got in our own heads and Burlington just wanted it more,” Rams coach Chris LeBlanc said. “Hopefully that’s a wake-up call for everyone. We’re right back at it Monday at Somerville with a chance to clinch a solo Greater Boston League Championship.”

Peabody 3

Greater Lowell 2

The Tanners needed five sets, but they rallied together and earned the victory. The win is Peabody’s eighth of the season.
