Lynnfield’s girls soccer team got the job done on enemy turf as the Pioneers defeated Essex Tech, 5-0, Tuesday evening. Bella Sykes and Kaylee Barrett each scored a brace, while Emma Rose also found the back of the net to cap off a brilliant performance from the Pioneers.

The Pioneers earned a road win on Tuesday, continuing a stellar title defense after last season’s state championship. Lynnfield’s Rocco Schena, frankly, couldn’t be stopped. He scored a goal and provided two assists. Ollie Morgan and Joel Morgan also found the scoresheet for the Pioneers. 

Revere 5

Lynn Classical 1

The Rams lost to a talented Revere side on Tuesday. Truth be told, you could say it was a hard matchup, as Revere recently beat defending state champion Somerville by two goals. 

Classical was in the game with the scoreboard showing just 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, however, Revere kicked things into high gear and cruised to victory.

The lone goal-scorer for the Rams was Jose Zepada.

Masconomet 3

Swampscott 1

Well, it was a tight battle between two evenly matched-teams. Masconomet got on the board early off a corner with Molly Regan putting the Chieftains ahead, 1-0. Mia Juliano added back-to-back goals to solidify a win.

The Big Blue struck in the fourth quarter when Maisie Russo found Olivia Quagrello, who fired one home to cut into the lead. Goalkeeper Lilah Caplan finished with seven saves for Swampscott. 

Bishop Fenwick 8

Arlington Catholic 0

Talk about back-to-back dominant performances. The Crusaders (2-1), fresh off a 6-0 win over Northeast Metro, showed no signs of slowing down in an 8-0 win against Arlington Catholic. Freshman Sophie Cooke scored a brace and provided two assists in the win. Bella McCormack, Mia Millett, and Maya Haddock all found the back of the net as well.

Danvers 0

Two evenly-matched teams ended in a scoreless draw. Coming up big for the Tanners was goalie Sophia Kassis, who made seven big saves. Head coach Jillian Tobin praised her shot-stopper, who came up big in the third quarter.

“Sophia Kassis kept us in the game with a crucial stop on a penalty stroke in the third,” Tobin said. 

When Peabody attacked, Amelia DiBattista did a good job creating space and separation, according to Tobin.

Malden Catholic 39.5

St. Mary’s 32.5

The Spartans fall to 1-3 after a close outing against Malden Catholic. Stephen Nason was a highlight for the Spartans, winning his match, 7-1. St. Mary’s swings again on Thursday when it faces Bishop Fenwick at 3 p.m. 

Gloucester 53.5

Swampscott 18.5

The Fishermen were too much for the Big Blue on Tuesday afternoon. Swampscott coach Ron Young credited Gloucester as a “very good team.” 

Playing well for Swampscott were Tyler Ostroff and Nick Smyth, each shooting a 39. The Big Blue look to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday when they host Beverly at Tedesco Country Club. 

Marblehead 52.5

Peabody 19.5

It was a strong performance from Marblehead (3-2), with each and every Magician winning their respective match. Marty Ryan (7-2) and James Bickell (7.5-1.5) led the way with convincing wins. Will Macrina shot a 35 in his 8.5-0.5 victory.

“The boys played better than the score says,” said Peabody coach Peter Cronan. 

Peabody will look to rebound on Thursday when it plays Gloucester at Bass Rocks Golf Club.

In its first Greater Boston League match this season, the Rams fell short to the Mustangs. 

Braeden Ohannesian won his match, 5.5-3.5. Brayden Curley halved his match and was a medalist, while captain Jake Beyea played well as the No. 1 golfer. 

Classical aims to bounce back against Somerville on Thursday at Gannon Golf Course.

The Big Blue got the job done in four sets of 25-12, 20-25, 25-13, and 25-13. Junior setter and captain Reese Schaiberger led by example with six service aces. Fellow junior and middle hitter Lisa Paster delivered a strong performance with 13 kills.

It was a tough day for the Tanners (1-2), who lost all three sets to Northeastern Conference foe Masconomet.  The first game was close with Peabody narrowly losing, 25-21. After the first, it was all Chieftains.
