ROUNDUP: Lynnfield’s Tracy, Adamo combine for perfect game

[ad_1]

This one was, well, perfect.

Not only did Lynnfield’s baseball team take care of visiting Rockport, 10-0, in a five-inning mercy on Thursday, but David Tracy (47 P, 4 K, W) and Tyler Adamo (11 P, 3 K) combined to throw a perfect game.

The Pioneers went home with 10 hits. Leading the way was Anthony Grabau (5 RBI), followed by Adamo (2-for-3, RBI), Chase Groothuis (2-for-2, RBI), and Madux Iovinelli (2 H, 2 RBI).

Lynnfield’s record jumped to 14-2 before its 10 a.m. visit to Amesbury on Saturday.

BASEBALL

Peabody 2
Masconomet 0

Fresh off its dominant 8-0 win against Salem earlier in the week, the Tanners responded with another shutout – this time, a 2-0 final against Masconomet. Freshman Dylan Cunningham threw a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts, while Mike Petro and Noah Crocker each connected on two hits.

SOFTBALL

Minuteman 18
Lynn Tech 2

Lynn Tech’s softball team came up short in Lexington, falling 18-2 to Minuteman. Jianny Bernable was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Zoe Wilson drove in Tech’s second run, and JB Beauchamp scored a run.

“JB also played solid defense at second base with some great plays, including a double play, catching the ball in the air and then picking off the runner who left second base before she could get back in time,” said Tech coach Beth Mercaldi. “Nicole Macario made her varsity debut at third base and caught a solid-hit line drive, ending the first inning.”

GIRLS LACROSSE

Swampscott 9
Masconomet 7

Swampscott’s girls lacrosse team upped its record to 11-2 after escaping Masconomet, 9-7, on enemy turf. Coco Clopton was effective on draws, Lilah Caplan played well between the pipes, and the defense did its job in keeping Chieftain attackers away from Caplan’s cage.
