A lot of people might stretch the truth and say, “Oh, I’ve done it 1,000 times,” but as of Thursday evening, Lynn Tech volleyball standout Elmer Duran means it literally.
Duran recorded his 1,000th career assist as the Tigers (5-8) defeated Chelsea 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-22) on home hardwood. He did a little bit of everything with 22 assists, nine digs, six kills, three aces, and a block.
“Elmer helped start our program four years ago and now he will forever be cemented in history as the first ever Lynn Tech volleyball player to reach 1,000 career assists,” said Tech coach Kaitlyn Wechsler. “I’m so proud of all the hard work and dedication he has put in to reaching this milestone. Elmer is an amazing player and an even better person. I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to coach him.”
Also contributing were Anthony Reid (10 digs, 4 kills, ace), Felipe Oliveira (9 kills), Amauri Bermudez (8 kills), and Sam Caraballo (7 digs).
