Peabody to hold morning events for Patriots' Day

PEABODY — The Danvers Alarm List will be at Jacobs Cemetery at 8:40 a.m. Monday to celebrate Patriots’ Day and honor soldiers from South Danvers, which later became Peabody, who died during the Battle of Lexington.

Afterward, veterans and the Alarm List will be at the Old South Burying Ground at 9:30 a.m. to “recognize the honored interred there.”

At 10 a.m., there will be a ceremony at the Lexington Monument at the intersection of Washington and Sewall streets.

A collation will follow at the the Tavern at the Bell Inn.

Sewall Street will be closed to traffic from Holen Street to Washington Street from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.

The events are sponsored by the Peabody Historical Society and Museum, the City of Peabody, and the Peabody Veterans Council.
