Peabody baker provides a treat on the go

PEABODY — If you spot a hot pink trailer parked at a Little League field, summer concert, or farmer’s market this summer, chances are Tiffany DeMarchi is nearby, pulling fresh-baked treats from the oven and serving customers with a smile.

The Peabody resident recently earned the People’s Choice Award at the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce’s INCredible Awards, a testament to the popularity of the business that has grown from a residential baking operation into what she calls the North Shore’s original mobile bakery.

“I just saw a need for a treat on the go,” DeMarchi said. “Something that wasn’t ice cream, that wasn’t a cookie, that wasn’t just one item — and was served hot and fresh.”

About a year and a half ago, DeMarchi launched Tiffany’s Tasty Treats, turning a lifelong love of baking into a business. Last October, she expanded with a custom-built mobile bakery that now appears at community events and private functions throughout the region.

The business traces its roots to DeMarchi’s childhood fascination with cooking shows.

Growing up in Somerville, she spent countless hours watching Food Network personalities Paula Deen and Giada De Laurentiis. She then taught herself baking techniques through cookbooks, TV, and online resources. Without formal culinary training, she refined her baking skills for family and friends — especially her three children.

“I would always give them homemade sweets after their days of school,” she said. “It just sort of became something that was every day.”

Today, DeMarchi often starts work at 3 a.m. to prepare baked goods for the day ahead. In addition to cookies, brownies, muffins, turnovers, and coffee, Tiffany’s Tasty Treats offers gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options. Her home kitchen is completely nut-free, and any custom orders containing nuts are prepared separately in a commercial kitchen to prevent cross-contamination.

Customers can also place specialty orders through her website.

One of DeMarchi’s favorite stops is West Peabody Little League, which she sponsors. The trailer has become a welcome sight for parents looking for coffee, breakfast, or a sweet treat while cheering on their children from the stands.

“It’s so much fun just watching them play baseball and getting to know my community,” DeMarchi said.

The company’s growth has become a family affair. Earlier this year, her husband, Mike, left a more than 20-year career as a project manager for a roofing company to join the business full-time. As sous chef, he helps operate the trailer, prepare coffee, and manage deliveries.

For DeMarchi, however, the clearest sign of success isn’t an award or a growing schedule of appearances. It’s having repeat customers.

“It’s just validating like OK, I’m actually making something good,” she said.

This summer, Tiffany’s Tasty Treats is scheduled to appear at Peabody’s Summer Concert Series at Leather City Commons and other events across the region, including: Billerica’s Farmer’s Market on June 15 and June 29 from 3-7 p.m., Stoneham’s Farmer’s Market on Thursdays from 2:30-6:30 p.m., Peabody’s Granite Coast Brewing Company on June 12 and June 19 at 6 p.m., and Winchester’s Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

DeMarchi has also signed on to host a cooking show with Saugus TV, another step toward a dream that began years ago while watching cooking programs from her living room.

For now, though, she’s content bringing fresh-baked treats directly to her customers.

“You won’t be able to miss me,” DeMarchi said.
