NAHANT — Seaglass Village, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping seniors live independently, will host a fundraising dinner at Tides Restaurant and Pub on Thursday, April 25.

From 4 to 7 p.m., 10% of the eatery’s proceeds will go directly to the nonprofit to help fund its programs and operations.

“We’re hoping for lots of people to come enjoy a dinner at the Tides and at the same time to help support Seaglass Village, which has been tremendously successful in the past year and a half in creating connections between seniors in Marblehead, Nahant, and Swampscott,” Seaglass Events Coordinator Linda Garber said in a press release. “It should be an enjoyable evening for everyone.”

Diners will be given the opportunity to win items such as gift cards to local businesses and assorted gift baskets, both of which will be provided by Seaglass Village.

Seaglass Village has more than 70 volunteers who are committed to making local seniors’ lives easier.

“Seaglass is dedicated to fostering independence and mutual support among its members,” Seaglass Village Director Penny Stratton said.

The nonprofit’s services include household assistance and maintenance, transportation, and friendly visits. The organization names its five core values as community, inclusiveness, mutual care, service, and sustainability.

In 2019, the Swampscott For All Ages Committee conducted a community-needs assessment that discovered approximately 35% of the town’s residents will be at least 60 years old by 2030. The results were a driving force behind the creation of Seaglass Village in 2021.
