LYNN — My Brother’s Table, a soup kitchen on Willow Street, has announced it will reopen on Friday at 4 p.m. with a renovated dining room to meet the community’s growing need.

My Brother’s Table said in a press release that it has served more than 7.8 million meals since its founding in 1982. Half of these have been served since 2020, showing the increased demand for its services in recent years.

As a result of a $250,000 grant from Mass General Brigham, with additional support from Eastern Bank, Institution for Savings Bank, Salem Five Bank, and the American Endowment Foundation, My Brother’s Table invested in a new dining room to meet this additional demand.

The new dining room was created to provide both “the warmth and camaraderie of the pre-COVID in-house dining experience” and a convenient, efficient takeout system that the organization developed during the pandemic, My Brother’s Table Executive Director Dianne Kuzia Hills said.

“We learned a lot through the pandemic, especially how we can be creative in the way we serve the community,” Kuzia Hills said.

My Brother’s Table will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at 98 Willow St. At the ribbon-cutting, My Brother’s Table staff and board members, elected officials, and benefactors of the soup kitchen will be in attendance.

Community members are also invited to visit and see the new dining room at My Brother’s Table’s open house on Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. My Brother’s Table staff, board members, and volunteers will be on hand to provide tours of the dining room and clinic while sharing insights into the organization’s work.

In the release, My Brother’s Table said it accepts all those in need without a screening or deeming process.
