LYNN — A State Representative Candidate Forum will be held at the Lynn Museum by the New Lynn Coalition on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m.
The forum will feature candidates City Councilor-at-Large Hong Net and School Committee member Sean Reid, who are running to represent the 11th Essex District in the race for state representative.
The 11th Essex District includes Nahant and Precinct 3 of Ward 4, Precincts 1, 2, and 4 of Ward 5, and Wards 6 and 7 of Lynn. The seat is currently held by Rep. Peter Capano, who is retiring at the end of his term.
The coalition is inviting members of organizations and the public to attend.
“Our goal is to ensure the community is well-informed and engaged in the electoral process,” New Lynn Coalition Executive Director Tanveer Malik said.
Malik said the forum is an important opportunity for voters to hear directly from the candidates.
The New Lynn Coalition is organizing the event with the support of its board-member organizations.
The board-member organizations include 1199 SEIU, Diverse People United, Essex County Community Organization (ECCO), Highlands Coalition, IUE-CWA Local 201, Latina Center MARIA, Lynn Health Task Force, Lynn Latino Leadership Coalition, Lynn United for Change, Lynn Worker Center, Massachusetts Senior Action Council (MSAC), Neighbor to Neighbor, North Shore Juneteenth Association, North Shore Labor Council (NSLC), Prevent the Cycle, SEIU Local 509, Together, and the United Nations Community Development Corporation (United Nations CDC).
