In honor of Saugus' Greg King, GregsGiving keeps on giving

SAUGUS — The Gregory King Memorial Fund held its annual GregsGiving on Sunday. The Fund was established in honor of Greg King, who died in 2016.

“By day, King worked for the Boston Health Commission as part of the AHOPE Harm Reduction Program. In his off time, he volunteered his efforts to people and local community organizations dedicated to combating the area’s opioid epidemic as well as the Healthy Streets Outreach program in Lynn,” according to the fund.

The group was created by friends and family, as well as other community members, to continue all of the hard work Greg did and to continue the fight against addiction.

The admission “fee” to enter the event was just a gently worn coat and/or non-perishable food donations. If one didn’t have either of these items, they could bring a personal hygiene product to help fill the “Donation Bags” that would be given to the homeless.

The event also featured multiple raffles, including a gift certificate to Kowloon. The Wong family provided the food and is a generous supporter of the fund.

“Our last GregsGiving in 2023 was a big success with over $500 being donated in Greg’s name to My Brother’s Table and 15 contractor bags of coats and blankets to AHOPE in Boston (a.k.a. The Greg King Center for Harm Reduction) as well as canned and dry goods for the Cliftondale Congressional Church Food Pantry,” according to the fund.

The group hopes this year can be even bigger than the last as they continue to help those in need and keep Greg’s memory and service alive.
