SWAMPSCOTT — Department of Public Works Director Gino Cresta stepped into the role as acting town administrator on Wednesday, Oct. 30, Select Board Chair MaryEllen Fletcher said.

Town Administrator Sean Fitzgerald is on medical leave as of Wednesday, Fletcher said. Cresta is currently the town’s assistant town administrator and is covering Fitzgerald’s duties in the interim.

“Every town needs to have access to a town administrator,” Fletcher said.

Cresta said he served as the acting town administrator from October 2015 to February 2016.

He said he is “just trying to keep the ship going straight ahead until Sean gets back.”
