You know what I’ve been thinking? She really ran away with it this week.
St. Mary’s Kelsey Kwiatek delivered not one, but two strong performances. Better yet, she’s only a sophomore and has been a part of the cross country program since sixth grade.
“As a sophomore, I think this is only the beginning for her,” said coach Tristan Smith.
In the MSTCA Bay State Invitational, Kwiatek sported a time of 19:08 to capture fourth place – good for a personal best.
Fast forward a few days to the Catholic Central League Middle School/Freshman/Sophomore Meet. The Spartans took third place, while Kwiatek solidified herself as the CCL’s underclassmen champion with a time of 12:22.
St. Mary’s visits Archbishop Williams at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. That one will be at Pond Meadow Park in Braintree. Let’s see what Kwiatek has in store against the Bishops.
“Kelsey has worked hard her entire career so far, and that consistency and determination has led to her turning a huge corner this week with her huge personal best,” Smith said.
Kelsey, good week.
