MARBLEHEAD— Police are investigating after a threat was called into the police station Monday afternoon, appearing to be aimed at Marblehead High School.
A large police presence was seen at the school around 2 p.m. According to a statement from Marblehead Police and Superintendent Theresa McGuinness, the high school went into a hold. At around 3 p.m., the scene was deemed safe and students were released from the building.

K-9 units were also present, sweeping inside as well as the front entrance of the school and parking lot.
In its statement, Marblehead Police said that the threat was not “an active shooter incident,” but rather a threat that was called into the police station and is currently being investigated.
”As soon as it is appropriate we will provide a status update,” the statement read.
