MBTA service changes coming in March on Newburyport/Rockport line

[ad_1]

The MBTA has announced service changes that will take effect in March on the Commuter Rail’s Newburyport/Rockport line as a result of ongoing repair work to improve reliability across the system as a whole.

Both the Newburyport and Rockport branches of the line will be suspended during the weekend of Saturday, March 23. Both branches pass through the Commuter Rail’s stations in Lynn and Swampscott.

Commuter Rail service between North Station and Swampscott will also be suspended during the weekends of Saturday, March 9 and Saturday, March 30.

“The MBTA understands how these service changes affect riders’ daily travels during this period, but we are committed to improving your travels long term with more reliable, timely, and safe service,” the MBTA said in a press release. “We thank riders for their patience as we deliver this important work and for continuing to ride our system.”

Riders can find more information on service changes through in-station signage, in-station public announcements, and at mbta.com/alerts. The release said that transit ambassadors and MBTA staff will be available on site to offer information and assistance during the service changes.

Riders are encouraged to subscribe to T-Alerts or to follow the MBTA on X @MBTA, @MBTA_CR, and @MBTA_CR_Alerts for up-to-date service information.
