Did you completely fail your New Year’s resolutions? It happens to the best of us. Instead of beating yourself up, learn how to get back on track. Since everyone is ‘springing forward,’ spring is possibly the best time of the year to renew your vows and get a fresh start. Remember, it’s never too late to begin again. Learn some easy ways to give your year a fresh start in spring.
One of the first things we do in spring is “spring forward” by doing an annual deep clean of our homes. There are many ways to make spring cleaning easy on yourself, from planning and preparation to dividing work zones and working smarter. An annual deep clean is necessary for a fresh home that practically sparkles. During the cleaning process, do what you love to do. You can play music while scrubbing the oven’s inside or dance with your mop while cleaning your kitchen floor. Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a drag; the sooner you can get it done, the better you’ll feel.
Reflect not just on the previous year but on the good things in the previous months. You should write out what you feel grateful for and reflect on what you feel proud of. Celebrate your triumphs and victories, whether it’s buying a new house or getting out of bed to study for one more hour. Anything that you’ve accumulated toward your goals is a point of celebration. However, it’s important also to consider your obstacles. They’ve already made you stronger, but how can you respond to them in the future in ways that benefit you? Create an algorithm that you can refer back to if something goes wrong. What will you do when it all falls apart? It’s important to know this and approach your problems with reflection and gratitude.
Restarting means readjusting, right? Set some attainable goals in the time you have left for the year. Be vulnerable and honest with yourself. Don’t get over-ambitious. Consider your end goal and work backward on how you can achieve it. Consider the obstacles you’ll encounter and create a protocol for dealing with them. Doing these things will give your year a fresh start, even though it’s spring.
