Lynn welcomes ALDI on Boston Street

LYNN — Residents now have a new place to shop for groceries as ALDI on Boston Street opened its doors Wednesday for a soft opening.

The 126 Boston St. location is set to bring 20 to 25 jobs to the City.

The first 200 customers of the new location, after its official opening Thursday morning, will receive a gift bag filled with a sampling of ALDI products and a gift card as part of the ALDI Golden Ticket giveaway program.

“At our new Lynn ALDI store, customers will see why so many already choose ALDI for their weekly grocery shopping,” said Chris Daniels, regional vice president for ALDI. “As shoppers look to stretch their dollar further, we’re excited to open this new location and bring more people a high-quality grocery selection they want and need at the lowest possible price.”

Daniels said ALDI’s smaller, more efficient stores and limited brand selection — along with its private-label focus and rotating ‘ALDI Finds’ aisle — typically leave shoppers paying about 30% less than at traditional supermarkets, which he said can add up to nearly $3,000 a year in savings for a family of four.

Daniels highlighted the “ALDI Finds” aisle, also known by fans as the aisle of shame — where about 100 limited-time, steeply discounted items arrive each week and often prompt shoppers to toss unplanned bargains into their carts before they disappear.

“When you’re able to stretch your grocery dollar and save at the dinner table with families, people are really going to notice that,” Daniels said.

ALDI also pays employees above the industry average. “They get benefits at 32 hours a week, but we have a higher expectation of performance,” Daniels said.

This latest opening brings ALDI one step closer to its goal of having 3,200 stores by the end of 2028.

In the new store, shoppers can expect ALDI-exclusive products, with nearly 90% of items on ALDI shelves being exclusive brands.

Shoppers will find organic meats, fresh produce, sustainable seafood, standout cheese and wine selections, and options for every taste and lifestyle.

Each week, shoppers will discover on-trend and seasonal items with the assortment of limited-time ALDI Finds. The rotating selection ranges from unique foods and lifestyle goods to home decor and pet accessories.

Nearly all ALDI locations nationwide provide customers with convenient shopping options, including grocery delivery and Curbside Grocery Pickup at aldi.us or one of their delivery partners.

“I don’t think it matters what part of Boston you live in or what kind of customer you are — everybody wants to save, especially right now with gas prices and food inflation the way they are,” Daniels said.
