MARBLEHEAD — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2005 will mark a major milestone in the nation’s history this weekend with a community celebration honoring America’s 250th year.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, beginning at 4 p.m. at VFW Post 2005, 321 West Shore Drive, in Marblehead.
The afternoon will feature live entertainment from the Glass Harbor Band and the Shanty Boys Band, along with appearances by the Glovers Regiment reenactors. Food and refreshments will be available from KC Kitchen and Terry’s Ice Cream.
Organizers say the event is intended to bring residents together in recognition of the nation’s semiquincentennial, which commemorates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
The celebration is open to the community and will include music, food, historical elements, and opportunities for residents to gather with friends and neighbors.
VFW Post 2005 Commander Ronny Knight invited the public to attend and help kick off local observances surrounding the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The event begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at the VFW Post, 321 West Shore Drive. Admission is free.
