SAUGUS — For some people, once they set their sights on accomplishing something, that’s it — it’ll be done.

Such is the case for Saugus native Dario Pizzano, a former Saugus American standout on the 2003 Little League World Series team who played 10 years of professional baseball for the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets organizations.

He’s also the Director of Fundraising for a non-profit called Mission Stadiums for Multiple Sclerosis (MS4MS), which has a mission to raise awareness of MS across stadiums everywhere.

Pizzano’s mother, Tracie, has been battling MS since 1998.

“It’s really cool to leverage the network I’ve developed over the years as a pro athlete and give,” said Pizzano, a newly-married New Jersey resident who works at J.P. Morgan in Manhattan.

MS4MS’ fourth annual #SpreadingOrange charity event at Fenway Park is slated for Saturday, June 13 when the Red Sox battle the Texas Rangers (4:10 p.m.). With the Red Sox making 300 tickets available to the group, the evening raises awareness and funds in the fight against MS.

It’s simple. Wear #SpreadingOrange T-shirts (awareness color of MS), enjoy the game and other fun-filled activities, and do so for a good cause.

“Everything we do means a lot, but this means a lot to my family especially, being from Boston and having my mom have her MS doctor out of Mass. General,” said Pizzano, whose parents still live in his childhood Saugus house. “We have such a good Boston presence in our group of ambassadors, so it means a lot to everybody involved.”

Along with ticketing, MS4MS relies on corporate sponsors, separate donations, raffles, and a postgame get-together at Cask ‘N Flagon, where there’s a “sea of orange” in the backroom with appetizers and raffles, according to Pizzano.

Not only will Pizzano appear on NESN’s pregame show with Tom Caron and Jim Rice the night before, but Gus Quattlebaum, the Vice President of Professional Scouting for the Red Sox who was diagnosed with MS, is one of the organization’s ambassadors.

“We’ll also get on the field for some batting practice with some of the sponsors and MS warriors who are joining us, so they can experience Fenway Park. Some of the players will come over, sign autographs, and take photos,” said Pizzano, who played against Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras and other current players.

With Johns Hopkins, UCLA Health, and Mass. General among benefactors, Pizzano said this year’s goal is to raise $30,000 from the Boston event. Over the last five years, the MS4MS team has raised more than $2 million — including more than $600,000 in 2025.

That’s not all. The following Monday comes with an MS4MS golf outing at Belmont Country Club, where Quattlebaum is a member.
