Lynnfield project receives regional award

LYNNFIELD — The town’s public safety building project has received an achievement award recognizing the renovation of the Police and Fire Department facilities.

“I’m pleased to share that the Lynnfield Public Safety project has been selected by the Construction Management Association of America, New England chapter, for the Project Achievement Award in the category of new construction under $100 million,” Mohammed Aljuboori, a project director at PMA consultants, said at the recent Select Board meeting.

Aljuboori explained that the award is highly competitive in the region and recognizes projects that demonstrate exceptional teamwork, technical excellence, and successful delivery for the owner.

“As part of the application process, the town submitted a comprehensive project narrative outlining the project’s goals, challenges, and outcomes,” he said.

The CMAA requires detailed documentation of project control, schedule management, cost performance, safety, and collaboration.

“The submission included photographs, milestone summaries, and descriptions of how the project team addressed complex issues during design and construction,” Aljuboori said. “The judging panel evaluates each project against national best practice criteria… Which makes this recognition meaningful.”

He explained that industry professionals conduct the evaluations, and they review each submission independently, focusing on how well the project met its objectives, controlled risks, and delivered value to the owner.

“For Lynnfield, this award reflects something much bigger than construction. It represents the town’s commitment to providing our police officers, firefighters, and public safety staff with modern, resilient, and health facilities that support their mission every day,” he said. “This award reflects the strength of the town’s project delivery process, clear expectations, disciplined oversight, and shared commitment to quality.”

Aljuboori added that the collaboration that occurred during the project and the town’s strong leadership were necessary.

Town Administrator Rob Dolan recognized Aljuboori, stating that he was “the best OPM” (owner’s project manager) that he had ever worked with and that “there’s not even a close second.”

Dolan added, “Whenever there was a fight to be had, not only were you ready for it, but you were incredibly prepared with facts (and) documents to really save taxpayers, in this case, millions of dollars.”

Dolan then recognized DPW Director John Scenna, who helps manage these projects “every day, dollar for dollar, with the people of Lynnfield’s safety and dollar in mind.”

Aljuboori also said that he was proud of the recently completed Joe Maney Room at Town Hall.
