LYNN — A major fundraising campaign is being launched for one of the most anticipated events of the year.

The annual display at Red Rock Park draws thousands of spectators from Lynn, Swampscott, and surrounding communities each summer, but organizers say the cost of producing the free public event continues to climb.

The City, along with the Lynn Firework Committee, is asking for support for the annual July 3 fireworks celebration at Red Rock Park as the community prepares to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. The committee is seeking to raise $65,000 ahead of this summer’s event.

Mayor Jared Nicholson highlighted the annual tradition.

“The fireworks celebration is an annual event that our residents look forward to with great anticipation,” he said. “We appreciate the support of everyone who provides financial support and works to make this a fantastic family activity.”

Lisa Nerich, of the Lynn Fireworks Committee, said, “There is a tremendous amount that goes into organizing a safe and successful fireworks display.”

She added, “We work closely with many agencies and departments, including the Massachusetts State Police, DCR, Lynn Fire Department, Lynn Police Department, and various city departments from start to finish.”

The planning process includes securing a professional fireworks company, arranging a launch barge, and coordinating police, fire, and state safety details for the shoreline event, Nerich said.

Organizers are also responsible for operational expenses, including portable restrooms and crowd management.

The committee has begun seeking support from local businesses, contractors, and community organizations as preparations ramp up for next year’s celebration.

“The Lynn Fireworks Committee is currently in the planning stages of raising funds for this year’s 250th Anniversary July 3rd Fireworks Celebration at Red Rock Park — a free family event for the community to come together and celebrate America,” Nerich said.

The 2026 event is expected to carry added significance as communities across the country commemorate the nation’s semiquincentennial.

As part of the fundraising campaign, the committee will host a golf tournament on June 12 at Gannon Golf Course. The event, sponsored by Nicholson, will feature nine holes in a scramble format, a golf cart, snacks, dinner, and a gift. Registration will begin at 3 p.m. on June 12. Additional fundraising events sponsored by local businesses are also planned throughout the community.

“Participating businesses will host events at their venues and generously donate a percentage of the proceeds toward the fireworks fund,” she said.

“This celebration has become a meaningful tradition for families across our community, and with your support, we can continue providing a memorable and safe event for everyone to enjoy,” Nerich said. “Any donation or sponsorship would be greatly appreciated and will directly help make this year’s 250th Anniversary celebration possible.”

Donations of any amount can be made by mailing a check to the City of Lynn Fireworks Committee or by participating in any of the upcoming events.
