Two new Lynn police officers sworn in

LYNN — On Monday, the Police Department swore in officers Michael Terry and Robert Supinski and welcomed them to the force.

Mayor Jared Nicholson congratulated the officers on joining the force and thanked their families for supporting them.

“There’s a lot to look forward to – a lot to be excited about – and a lot of challenges that await and you can’t do without the support of your family,” he said.

The officers went through six months of hard work at the academy and it’s important to acknowledge their commitment, Police Chief Christopher Reddy said. They trained physically and academically and he said he is proud of their achievement.

“This city really needs young talented officers, and to see officers like this come aboard is very encouraging,” Reddy said.

Their training at the academy is just the “tip of the iceberg,” Terry said. He is looking forward to continuing to learn.

“It feels great,” he said after being sworn in. “I’m excited and eager to get going and get started.”

Supinski echoed Terry’s remarks upon being sworn in.

Officers learn about everything at the academy, but the real training and learning comes during the job, Supinski said.

“We’re very eager to give further service to the city and start rocking and roll and start working,” he added.
