Connor’s Kindness demonstrates the Wright way in Lynnfield

LYNNFIELD — Connor’s Kindness Project recently received a donation from Wakefield Co-operative Bank’s Jeans Day.

Connor Wright, the 10th-grade Lynnfield resident who founded the local nonprofit in 2021, said Wakefield Co-operative Bank was one of the first banks to support the nonprofit when it was beginning.

“We’ve always had a good connection with them,” he said. “Their employees were great about it, and were able to raise money for us — to support us… We’re very thankful for them.”

The donation from the bank’s Jeans Day will go toward supporting the nonprofit’s Kindness Kits, Wright said.

Each kit includes a combination of a mini Lego set, Bombas or Notes to Self socks, Etch A Sketch, Play-Doh, slime, crayons, a coloring book, stickers, a Foldscope, Mad Libs and Pop It, according to their website.

Wright said the money will be used to purchase more Lego sets, which recently went on sale. He will be able to purchase approximately 100 sets with the donation.

“They’ve been a good item,” he said.

Recipients of the items who have completed surveys about the Kindness Kits say they enjoy the Lego sets, Wright said.

The kits are delivered to children in hospitals and shelters and are meant to be “entertaining, comforting and fun for children in challenging situations,” the website stated.

Overall, Wright said the response to the Kindness Kits is positive.

“Everybody that we’ve delivered to has asked to go on a continuous delivery,” he said. “Hospitals always have great feedback for us. The kids love them. It helps calm them down in a tough time, and it makes us want to do even more.”

The website allows people to donate by purchasing items for the kids directly.
