LYNN — The third race in the Shoe City Race Series saw record numbers in signups this past weekend. The Shoe City Race Series is in its inaugural season as a series and it’s been a hit. The first two races of the series were held earlier this year in March (Hibernian 5K) and June (Lynn Fire & Police Family Day 5K). 

There were 174 runners signed up for the event on Saturday with 99 finishers. With the weather not being the best for running, the amount of signups is a big boost to the series. 

The Clock to the Rock is a 5k race beginning and ending in Central Square Lynn. There were impressive times in the race from all divisions. The best overall time, however, belonged to Lynn’s Jacquelyn Ramirez who ran 3.1 miles in 25:04 at an 8:04 pace. 

In the men’s division, the fastest time was 16-year-old Gianni Elmudesi from Lynn who ran a 25:41 (8:16 pace). Following Elmudesi was Eamonn McHale who ran a 25:53. Lynn’s Brandon Sok and Santiago Aguilar finished third and fourth respectively with a 26:39 and 27:56 time. 

In the women’s division, after Ramirez, it was Lynn’s Michele Simons (30:13) and Mariana Deleon (30:25) taking second and third place.Lynnfield’s Sandy Bransfield was right behind coming in with a time of 30:40.

Runners come from all over the North Shore as there are representatives from Lynn, Danvers, Marblehead, Lynnfield, Peabody, Swampscott, Haverhill, Reading, North Reading, Saugus, Medford, Stoneham, and Groveland who competed on Saturday. 

Peabody was well represented as its top two finishers were Justin Richards (32:28) and Kathy Barton (34:06). 

Ryan Brown of Danvers finished with a 29:43, with Marblehead’s Chris Stockwell crossing the finish line in 30:14. Justin Richards (32:28) and Kathy Barton (34:06) were Peabody’s top runners. 

The fourth race and final race of the series will take place on Thanksgiving with the Turkey Trot 5K.
