LHAND to hold 26th annual Scholarship Golf Tournament

LYNN — In addition to providing quality and affordable housing, the Lynn Housing Authority and Neighborhood Development (LHAND) plays an active role in improving the overall quality of life for Lynn residents. One of the ways in which it does that is by offering scholarships to
students seeking higher education.

The LHAND’s scholarship foundation has been going strong since 1998 because of generous donations from individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits within the community. One of the primary fundraisers for the scholarship program is the annual Scholarship Golf Tournament, which will be held at Gannon Gold Club on Sept. 26.

This year’s tournament will be played in honor of Laurie Walsh, former chairperson of the LHAND Board of Commissioners and co-owner of John’s Oil. LHAND has added a new category to the scholarship program in Walsh’s name for students who wish to enter the field of business field.

Walsh was a dedicated community leader and businesswoman with a generous heart. LHAND hopes to continue her legacy by creating more opportunities for hardworking students for many years to come.
