Jonathan Edwards' art is at the South Branch Library

PEABODY Jonathan Edwards said he has taken photographs for as long as he can remember.

The 52-year-old Beverly resident has his work on display at the Peabody South Branch Library, where it will remain until Oct. 1.

Photography “makes me happy,” he said.

Edwards said his favorite places to photograph are Rockport and Gloucester. Although he mostly takes photos of scenery, he enjoys a mix of nautical and nature photography.

He began taking photographs with a Polaroid camera because he enjoyed seeing the photos instantly, which led to his work with digital photography. Edwards now uses Lumix and Canon cameras, but on occasions he takes pictures with his iPhone.

“I enjoy connecting with my community and the people around me through photography,” Edwards said in a statement from the library. “Speaking can be difficult for me, but photography gives me a creative way to speak without using words.”

His advice to other photographers is to take as many photos as they can.

Edwards’ work has been exhibited at the Beverly Art Festival Community Art Exhibit, Beverly Historical Society, Danvers Art Association Spring Show, Porter Mills Small Works, Maritime Gloucester, ARC Works, Copper Dog Bookstore, and the Bookstore at Gloucester. He sells his art work at Parcels and area craft fairs, as well as through Fine Art America, according to the statement.

His photography can be found on his Instagram, @jcardsplus, and purchased through his website, fineartamerica.com/profiles/jonathan-edwards and jcardsplus.wixsite.com/jphotography.
